CBRE Asia Pacific Research conducted a flash survey of 205 retail clients between September 21 and October 20, 2020 to gauge the retail industry response and recovery to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Business outlook: Retail activity continues to normalise. Stores have largely reopened but two thirds of respondents believe it will take six months or more to see a full recovery in sales.

  • Planning for 2021: While most retailers remain cautious, expansion sentiment has improved since CBRE’s previous survey in May, supported by the gradual recovery in retail sales.
